![]() Will Smith defends Cruise's Scientology beliefs ![]() U.S. actor Will Smith poses at a news conference to promote his film "I Am Legend" in Tokyo Dec. 4, 2007. Will Smith went out on a limb the past weekend on "60 Minutes" and Access Hollywood, defending buddy Tom Cruise's belief in Scientology. BEIJING, Dec. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Will Smith went out on a limb the past weekend on "60 Minutes" and Access Hollywood, defending buddy Tom Cruise's belief in Scientology. "What about Scientology do you embrace?" Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson asked Smith. "I was introduced, [to] it by Tom and I'm a student of world religion," Smith replied. "I was raised in a Baptist household, I went to a Catholic school, but the ideas of the Bible are 98 percent the same ideas of Scientology, 98 percent the same ideas of Hinduism and Buddhism." "It seems like it makes you angry that people have attacked him because of what he believes," Robinson said. "When I sit and I talk with Tom Cruise, he is one of the greatest spirits that I've ever met -– someone who is committed to making the world better," Smith said. "You have people [that] are attacking and wanna fight that don't know nothing — how you gonna not know nothing about Scientology and attack somebody? It's dangerous and it's ignorant. "How can I condemn someone for what they believe and I believe that God was born from a pregnant virgin?" Will queried. Smith said it was his cheating first girlfriend when he was 16 that motivated him to become a movie star. "I was so devastated that she cheated on me and I remember making a decision that she cheated on me cause I wasn't good enough right? And I remember laying in my mother's bed crying and making a decision that if I was the best at everything, that my woman could never cheat on me." From what I see he says Tom Cruise can do what he likes, by what I can tell he's sticking with his own religious beliefs

Things don't look good, this is from back in January... Will Smith boosting Scientology Will Smith has joined the ranks of Hollywood power players actively recruiting for the Church of Scientology. Big stars traditionally distribute "wrap presents" to crew members after completing a film. His recent gift after wrapping next summer's comedy "Hancock" was a card good for a personality test at your local Scientology center. Fun! Never mind that such tests are given free by the church anyway. The quiz is designed to convert people to the religion by identifying personality flaws that - surprise! - Scientology can fix right up for you. For a fee, of course. Smith, who is best buddies with Scientology booster Tom Cruise, has never confirmed that he joined the church. But he told "Access Hollywood" last month: "I was introduced to it by Tom, and I'm a student of world religion. I was raised in a Baptist household. I went to a Catholic school, but the ideas of the Bible are 98% the same ideas of Scientology, 98% the same ideas of Hinduism and Buddhism." Presumably the other 2% is the part about the evil space emperor who put the hydrogen bombs in the volcano. Smith's rep was traveling with the actor on Tuesday and unavailable for comment. And this is what the answer bitch says and you can't argue with her LoL
![]() Is Will Smith now a Scientologist? Which celebrities are Scientologists, and why are there so many? Is Will Smith one now? —Silvia, Phoenix The B!tch Replies: Here's what we know for sure: * Smith is tight with Tom Cruise, a very public Scientologist. * So tight that Cruise showed up at Smith's recent induction to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the premiere of Smith's flick I Am Legend. * Smith recently told Men's Vogue that he has "studied Scientology through Tom [Cruise]." * Smith has likened Scientology to mainstream religions, telling Men's Vogue that "98 percent of the principles [in Scientology] are identical to the principles of the Bible." * After wrapping his latest movie, Hancock, Smith reportedly gave the crew vouchers for personality tests offered by the Church of Scientology. * Sources close to Smith told MSNBC the actor "has been getting more and more involved" in Scientology. * Smith's reps may be too busy taking personality tests to answer your question. They didn't reply to a request for comment on whether Smith is or is not, in fact, a Scientologist. So, it's clear that Smith is at least very interested in Scientology, which is followed by thousands, perhaps millions, of people who believe their bodies are occupied by the troubled spirits of departed aliens. Either that or Smith just really loves personality tests. If Smith and his wife, Jada, have joined—or plan to join—the church, they have plenty of celebrity compadres. Other people who count themselves as Scientologists: Giovanni Ribisi, Juliette Lewis, Leah Remini, Beck, Greta Van Susteren, Jenna Elfman, Jason Lee, the Masterson brothers, John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Laura Prepon, Lisa Marie Presley, and her mom, Priscilla. Briefly, the doctrine of Scientology posits that man is an immortal spiritual being "who is endowed with abilities well beyond those which he normally considers he possesses." There's no discounting the group's popularity in Hollywood. Part of that popularity can be chalked up to the TLC the church gives to stars via its "Celebrity Centre" retreat here in L.A. The networking can't hurt, either. But perhaps most important, Scientology is largely about active recruitment. Take a stroll down Hollywood Boulevard, and you'll likely see squadrons of bushy-tailed kids offering the church's personality tests to passersby. Critics have called it a cult, noting that adherents believe ancient alien spirits plague most of mankind. Speaking of plagues, you'll excuse me. I think my editor wants something. Aww, I did a personality test and they want me to submit it to the closest church, I don't wanna step foot in any church unless I know its worth going to first, you'd think they web-generate a test result to advertise that they can fix flaws in your personality ;P
I'm not going to a church to have them make their own opinion of me and try to convert me, I'd like to see their opinion of my personality before I get involved, if I had any motive to do so at least. |

It's what all religion is about. They want to tell you what you can and can't do - what's right and what's wrong. Who needs it? I let my conscience guide me.
